Sign up to Patient Access

How do I register?

There are two ways of registering to use Patient Access, both available on the Patient Access homepage.

Register with a letter

Ask us for a Patient Access registration letter. Just pop in to reception and we’ll create one for you then and there. When you collect the letter from us you’ll need to bring proof of identity (e.g. your driving licence or passport) with you.

When you have a registration letter, use the steps below to set up your Patient Access account:

  1. Go to https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/Register.
  2. Below the question ‘Have you received a registration letter from your practice’, select Yes.
  3. Complete the details, using the information from the registration letter.
TIP: You should only enter your NHS number if it is included on the registration letter. Leave the field blank if it is not.
  4. Type your personal details, create a password (this should be longer than six characters and contain at least one number and one letter), and then complete the security questions.
If you complete the security questions, you’ll be able to reset your own password if you forget it in the future. If you don’t complete them, you’ll need to ask your practice to reset your account.
  5. Make a note of the user ID that’s generated for you, as you’ll use this to sign in to Patient Access from now on.

Register online

Use the steps below to create a basic Patient Access account. To complete the registration and get a fully active account, you need to take proof of identity to your practice and ask them to complete your registration.

  1. Go to https://patient.emisaccess.co.uk/Register.
  2. Below the question ‘Have you received a registration letter from your practice’, select No.
  3. Follow the instructions and choose our practice from the selection.
  6. To complete the registration and get a fully active Patient Access account, take proof of identity to your practice and ask them to complete your registration.

I’m getting an error message when registering

I’m trying to register after a password reset

You may see an ERROR: 7001 message when trying to register if you have previously registered for the service and have forgotten your password. We can usually resolve this by ‘closing your account’ within our clinical system.

If you are registering for Patient Access from a letter:

  1. Contact your practice and ask them to use the ‘Close Account’ option on your Patient Access account. This is different to ‘Reset Account Key’ which we would normally do to reset your Password.
  2. This will generate a new registration letter which you will need to collect.
  3. You will then need to re-register for Patient Access using the details in the registration letter.

For any other reason

Please use the option below to contact Patient Access Support so that they can investigate this – please include the reference number underneath the error message.
